Our History

Mr. Amitava Chatterjee - 1972 B.E. (Metallurgy)
February 24, 2006

Let me at the outset wish you all a very happy and peaceful 2006.

I look back during my early days after graduation, when I was introduced to Alumni Members in Durgapur. The acceptance was instantaneous, and I continued to grow amidst Alumni culture through participation in various social and cultural activities. Thereafter, with the change of assignment and place I came across eminent personalities from the corporate world hailing from our esteemed university. Every time I met them, the feeling of fraternity grew manyfold.

Mumbai branch entered into its 50th year of existence and has a strong network maintained through various cultural and social activities. Every cultural program held so far, reflects our endeavor to make its contents truly diverse, catering to refined tastes of audience. The love and affection of many senior members for the cause of Alumni Association are our inspiration for the activities in Mumbai Branch. The young members are our live wires, they make things happen!!!

We have over 500 registered members, and there could be many more residing in Mumbai but not registered with us. Our website (www.jualumnimumbai.org), launched with the idea of creating database facility for registering the details of any member from anywhere in the world needs to be updated. I request members to register their details in the data bank as given in our website and take active and meaningful role in Alumni activities.

We have also set up a Charitable Trust since 1981, with the mission of fulfilling the dreams of our founding fathers of NCE Bengal for spreading education amongst poor and needy students. We are today infused with a sense of purpose and excitement as we celebrate the Golden Jubilee year. Excitement, because our commitment to society at large is gaining momentum through fund raising drive and help the needy / mentally challenged students with financial assistance in form of scholarship through our Trust.

On this auspicious 'Foundation Day' of NCE, Bengal and to celebrate Golden Jubilee year, we have invited eminent Gazal duo Mr. Rupkumar Rathod and Mrs. Sunali Rathod to enthrall us with their popular Gazal numbers.

My sincere appreciation to all members of cultural / publication committee, who have worked tirelessly for the success of this program. Last but not the least, my heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors and advertisers, without whose support this program would not have been possible.

Long Live Alumni Association.
